Day 2 on the water

So.... today was quite the adventure.

We practiced a few 500m races this morning (9am) - the heat was crazy strong that early in the morning and it will be interesting to see how we perform when we're racing at 2pm... BUT ... the boat is feeling good. Nice and powerful (although, every girl seems to still have her own technique).

The afternoon practice included some 200m races - they kept getting better and better. We're still playing around with out starts and who is sitting where in the boat, but the boat seems to adapt really well to the changes (which is good).

For dinner we decided to keep it low key and get a rotisserie chicken and pre-made salads from the grocery store; we brought it down to free booze hour in the hotel lobby and went to town. It turns out that our cheapest meal since we've arrived has also turned out to be the best.... (after last nights disappointing, crazy overpriced fish).

After dinner we decided to take a walk around Channelside (in Tampa - close to our hotel) and ended up finding this great little courtyard area with lots of bars and restuarants. They had a restaurant called "MJ's brewery" - I must go there one night... otherwise, we ended up listening to some guys playing on stage in the centre of the courtyard.

The lead singer took a liking to Chrissy (although, couldn't get her name straight and kept calling her "Kristy"); she was up on stage with the tambourine and the microphone singing her little heart out. I think they will miss the Canadian girls when we leave in a week.... a week.... that's just crazy. An entire year spent preparing for this, and less than one week left.

Racing begins on Wednesday.... lets go Team Canada :)
